Typically, the treatment starts with placing full braces. This appointment normally lasts about two hours. Subsequent adjustment appointments last from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, mostly, about 30 minutes. They are usually 4 to 10 weeks apart. When your active treatment is finished, removing braces and fitting your retainers will need about two hours as well.
We provide convenient hours to acommodate your busy schedule. We have evening and Saturday hours available.
We ask for at least 48 hours notice when rescheduling or canceling an appointment so that the time can be offered to another patient. There will be a charge for less than a 24 hour notification. Missed appointments or numerous appointment changes will inevitably result in an extension of treatment time and could possibly increase charges.
Orthodontic emergencies happen occasionally. They usually involve a loose bracket/band, or poking wire. If these problems occur after hours, they can usually wait until the next day or, if it is a weekend, the following Monday. If a wire is poking the inside of your mouth, it may be possible to bend the wire away from the irritated area with the end of a pencil eraser. Wax can also be placed over the sharps of brackets or wire so that you can be comfortable. If a patient is truly in pain or discomfort, please call our office. We will take care of the emergency.
